A Letter From the Riley’s

March, 2024

Greetings to our Friends of Shamrock Hills Vineyard and Winery! As I reflect on this past year and what we were doing this time last year, I can only chuckle as we were down to the wire to be opened by April 1st…literally!  The transition itself was a story to tell but the overwhelming response we received from the community was enough to choke both Mike and I up seeing car after car come in and people crowd into the tasting room, on the patio, and the parking lot fill up.  It was truly overwhelming!  A memory that will continue to give us hope when we have those occasional moments where we ask ourselves “What were we thinking?”  We dug in and have had some trial and errors as we have figured out the flow of the tasting room and what brings guests our way and what doesn’t.  Not to mention all we’ve learned (who am I kidding…all that Mike has learned) when it comes to making wine and the science behind it.  When you discover that it’s more than fermenting juice and putting it into a bottle and sticking a cork in it and a label on it…it definitely makes you appreciate the bottle of wine a little more!

WE ARE MOVING FORWARD and are excited for all that we are doing to get more exposure to our location and to share our love for wine with many people!  What do you have to look forward to?

April 5-8th (since the weekend before April 1st is Easter) we will be celebrating 1 year in business as Shamrock Hills Vineyard and Winery!  We have a lot in store for you.  Live music, a food truck, a couple of pop ups, Hip Hop Dance, and wait for it . . . revealing our Shamrock Hills Wine Club!  We are even trying to get at least one of our new wines bottled to release that weekend.  Praying for the delivery gods to get us our bottles, corks, and labels before then.

April 8th we will end our anniversary celebration by opening our grounds for an Eclipse Watch party!  The winery will be open for a few hours that day encase you’d like a beverage to sip while you wait and observe.

Our new micro brews.  We now have 3 that Mike has created to go along with our Irish heritage—an ale, a lager, and a stout and you can try all 3 for $8.00 or get a draft for $6.50.  We realize that not everyone you bring with you to the winery enjoys wine and we want to embrace that.  We are also now distributors of the Brick River Ciders!  These are another gluten free option.

You will notice changes to our tasting room as you come out, we’ve added shelving for merchandise, and a little wood accents on the walls and soon (I hope) our new tables will arrive.  If you want to put claim on a Four Horses Table top—while supplies last we will let you put your name on the bottom to take when we replace with the new tables –bases stay with us.

One of the exciting aspects of this adventure, is we are always evolving!  We look forward to many years to come and sharing our love for wine, beer, and sometimes whiskey with you.

To all the days here and after, may they be filled with fond memories, happiness and laughter.”

Slainte!
Denise and Mike Riley
