The Luck of the Irish

The Luck of the Irish was with Us on March 16th, Even if Mother Nature was Not Very Cooperative!

What a great turnout for our Shamrock Hills St. Patty’s Day Celebration! We had 22 people join us for the VIP experience. They started there day Irish style with a hearty traditional Irish breakfast of 2 eggs over-easy, a potato cake, a banger, bacon, blood pudding, a tomato, pork and beans straight from the can, and soda bread with honey butter. They washed it down with our Shamrock Mimosa, Irish Coffee or regular coffee. There were a few big eyes as we delivered these breakfasts to our guests. There is no such thing as an American continental breakfast in Ireland!

Then they got to enjoy private access to the tasting room until we opened at noon to the general public. They also got to do either an Irish Whiskey tasting of 5 different whiskeys or a wine and beer tasting of 5 of our reserve wines and 6 beers—3 micro brews and 3 Irish brews. Now you know why we started with the big breakfast!

Finally, everyone who came both the public and the VIP’s got to enjoy the Celtic music of Into the Sun and the evening finale of Kevin Reagan, bag piper. Ideally, we wanted Kevin to play outside of the winery around the pond, but Mother Nature overlooked that memo so he played inside but it all turned out great!

We had a packed house at some points of the day and I think everyone had a good time, I know Mike and I did. Sweet Hadley Jo and her parents, our younger son and his girlfriend and some of Hadley’s fans came and we got to celebrate a little early St. Patty’s day with our family both biological and winery.

That’s really what it’s all about! In Ireland, you go to the pub with your family and hang out after a soccer game, or on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy the stories of neighbors and friends.

It’s more than just drinking which sometimes can get out of hand, but it’s the camaraderie and fellowship! This was a good first St. Patty’s Day Celebration and we are excited to start the tradition at Shamrock Hills for future celebrations to come.
